Kidney Transplantation

Kidney removes excess and toxic fluids and wastes from your body. If it stops functioning efficiently, the condition is called kidney failure or end-stage renal disease (ESRD). But the advanced medical technology does not let it be fatal for you as “Kidney Transplantation” is the life-saving cure for the disease. A kidney transplant is a surgical process in which a living or deceased person can donate his kidney to the patient surviving on dialysis.

Liver Transplantation

Liver Transplantation is suggested in the case of Liver Failure. It is a surgical procedure in which the whole liver or a part of the liver is transplanted into the patient’s body to save him from the life-threatening medical condition. Liver transplantation is usually done when other medical treatment cannot keep a damaged liver functioning. About 80 – 90 % of people survive liver transplantation.

Bone Marrow Transplantation

Bone marrow is the soft, sponge-like material found inside bones. It contains immature cells called stem cells that produce blood cells. There are three types of blood cells: white blood cells, which fight infection; red blood cells, which carry oxygen to and remove waste products from organs and tissues; and platelets, which enable the blood to clot. Most stem cells are found in the bone marrow, but some stem cells called peripheral blood stem cells (PBSCs) can be found in the bloodstream. Umbilical cord blood also contains stem cells. Stem cells can divide to form more stem cells, or they can mature into white blood cells, red blood cells, or platelets.

Heart Transplantation

A heart transplant is surgery to remove a person's diseased heart and replace it with a healthy heart from a deceased donor. Most heart transplants are done on patients who have end-stage heart failure. Heart failure is a condition in which the heart is damaged or weak. As a result, it can't pump enough blood to meet the body's needs. "End-stage" means the condition is so severe that all treatments, other than a heart transplant, have failed.

Lung Transplantation

A lung transplant is a surgery to remove a person's diseased lung and replace it with a healthy lung from a deceased donor. Lung transplants are used for people who are likely to die from lung disease within 1 to 2 years. Their conditions are so severe that other treatments, such as medicines or breathing devices, no longer work. Lung transplants aren't very common because of the small number of donor organs available. About 1,800 lung transplants were done in the United States in 2010. More donor lungs would mean a larger number of suitable lungs available for transplant.
